INITIATIVE

Jawahar knowledge centres (JKCs) were established in Government Degree colleges by the Commissionerate of Collegiate Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh in 2005 .In the same year Viswodaya Govt.Degree college JKC was also started with an aim to develop employability skills to the students studying non-professional courses .It imparts training in computer skills, communication skills, analytical skills and industry- related skills. The Viswodaya Govt.Degree college JKC centre with a dedicated focus on transforming existing unemployable talent pool into an industry friendly one is striving with commitment and sincerity of purpose. More over with an intention of bridging the gap between academics and industry and train our students in the weak aereas.The mentors who have been specially trained by language experts from US state department, give training to all the students in soft skills and communication skills.

The JKC shoulders the responsibility of providing intensive training to the poorest of the poor students from marginalized sections of the society in employable skills and enable them avail themselves of the bright opportunities. The students from rural areas who have no access to advantages experienced by their urban counterparts are provided with the la test technologies and opportunities to upgrade their skills and are encouraged to compete for better standards of living.

TRAINING SCHEDULE:
  1. Three general batches (3months each) in communication skills, analytical skills and computer skills every year from April to February of the following year
  2. Exact dates for registration and commencement of every batch will be notified by CCE and in turn it will be intimated to the students by circular displayed on all departments noticed boards.
TIMINGS:

9AM to 9.50AM –Communication Skills by GEMs 3PM to 4.40PM-Analytical skills by FT Mentors.

Registration:

By submitting the filled in application form along with training fees of Rs;550/-(Rupees five hundred and fifty only)for OC and BC students.Rs.50/-for SC ,ST Students.

JKC LANGUAGE LAB:
  1. All the 30 systems are connected with INTERNET using the Broadband service of BSNL..
  2. The facility is used to impart internet skills to the trainees
  3. Every student gets internet access for three hours every week during training program.
  4. Trainees will use the facility for doing project works
  5. The information related to the placement drives is received through e-mail by nodal JKC and CCE.

CURRICULAM DELIVERY:

The JKC training activity is handled by Mentors

1. Fulltime Mentor:

Fulltime Mentors are engaged by the Commissioner of Collegiate Education through open competition. These Mentors train the students in Analytical Skills and Technical/Computer Skills.

2. Guest Mentor:

The regular English Lecturers of the college who are trained by experts from US State Dept. through the English Language Fellow Program and Infosys are engaged as Guest Mentors to train the students in Communication Skills and Soft Skills.

TISS

The Higher Education department entered into a MoU with TATA Institute of Social sciences (TISS) to enhance the employability skills of students studying in Govt Degree Colleges in A.P. In this context the department of collegiate Education intended to start the training programme in seven courses on pilot scale in 100 Govt Degree Colleges from 1 July 2016. In addition to the regular academic schedule TISS and JKC classes are also being conducted to enhance their talent and employability skills to get success in global job market. But during the academic year 2017-2018 the Fulltime Mentor was transferred to Nodal college and no JKC batch was registered. Only TISS batch was run by trained faculty.

TISS –JKC ASSESSMENTt ATTENDANCE: All the Registered 52 TISS students have attended the TISS class work for all the modules, who have got attendance certificates. Among the 54 TISS students 30 students have attended the TISS Assessment of written exam , viva-voce and they got course completion certificates and grades.
